Changing the Ink Ribbon Cartridge on a CS30 Clocking In Machine

The process to change ink ribbon on a CS30 is quite straight forward, but the following should help clarify how to do it as some can find it fiddly.

First remove the lid using the key

Once the lid is off, next press the 'Afternoon Out' button to move the Ribbon cartridge to the centre of the machine. This will make it easier to access.

Next locate the two tabs on either side of the front of the ink cartridge and pull them forward as shown below.

After this lift the ink ribbon up with your other hand and remove from the machine.

To fit the new ink ribbon is basically a reverse of this process.

Hold the ribbon cassette directly over the area where it is to be fitted and lower down into place.

Take care that the ribbon fits between the wide and narrow pieces shown below.

The picture below shows the ribbon (red and black) in front of the wide piece and behind the narrow piece.

Once the ink ribbon is in the right place, press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Just to check everything is okay you can give the small knurled knob a turn clockwise to ensure it is seated properly and turning freely.

Test a card in the machine, if there is an issue with the print then lift the ribbon cassette out and try again. Sometimes the ribbon can get twisted or tangled so you may need to turn the knurled knob clockwise to tighten it.
