Setting up the A124F Biometric Terminal Bell/Siren Kit

Introduction
This guide should assist when first setting up a new bell/siren kit for use with a A124F Biometric terminal, or when adding or reconnecting a bell kit to an existing terminal. If a siren is to be fitted which was purchased from Clocking Systems then please refer to the wiring instructions specific to that product separately. Other bells or sirens may be connected, but please ensure that they are suitable for 240V AC input.
As with any electrical work please ensure that this equipment is fitted by a person competent in electric installation, as the output to the bell or siren is 240V AC.

Installation & Setup
First, grab the terminal and ensure it is unplugged. Looking at the back you should see where the white connector (marked Bell / siren connection to terminal) should plug in, as shown on the right. Ensure that the cable is securely plugged in and then run the cable down through the channel and out the bottom. Don’t forget the power and network cables too as required. When fitting to the back plate be careful not to ‘nip’ the cables. |
The bell/siren kit box should be mounted to the side or under the terminal as appropriate using the 3 mounting holes as detailed in the left image. The orientation of the box should be positioned to best suit the input and output cable positions. The right image shows the layout inside the box. Note the position of the cables (these are labelled on the PC board for clarity) if they need to be disconnected or reconnected. There is also a 5x20mm, 3A quick blow fuse for added circuit protection. | Bell/siren kit box |

The Bell/siren output cable should be connected to the bell or siren as shown below. Note that the actual wiring instruction will vary depending on the type of bell or siren selected. The example below (right) shows a standard Clocking Systems siren. The instructions for fitting this will be included separately with the siren.
When connecting to your bell or siren ensure that the earth wire is connected if required.
If you have any doubts about connecting the bell or siren you should contact a qualified electrician. |
| This siren has a plastic casing and so is classified as a Double insulated device (class II).
Therefore, it does not require an earth wire.

Once the hardware and wiring are complete plug in the bell kit input plug and switch on. The terminal can also now be plugged in.
